About Putnam Pride

Putnam Pride is a grassroots organization dedicated to building a welcoming community for queer people of all ages to gather and celebrate in Putnam County. We strive to take an intersectional approach that spotlights the most marginalized groups and to use our platform as a vehicle for creating real change. We believe that Black Lives Matter and trans rights are human rights.

2024 Statement:
We decry violence and oppression everywhere, including against the Jewish community and hatred toward and silencing of those who protest war and call for ceasefire. We call for a ceasefire by Israel and an end to war crimes against and devastation of people in the occupied Gaza Strip. We call for the release of all hostages by Hamas. We reject antisemitism in all forms; we vehemently reject anti-Muslim/ anti-Arab and racist rhetoric.

On June 1, 2024, we will hold the 5th Annual Putnam Pride featuring the following presenters and speakers:
TBD

Once again, our Emcees and Hosts will be Angel Elektra and Shay D’Pines.

PUTNAM PRIDE 2024 GENERAL INFORMATION

On June 1, starting at 1:00PM, we will first gather at Gilead Presbyterian Church, a welcoming congregation in Carmel, to hear from a lineup of local speakers before heading over to Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park, where we will have a day filled with entertainment, music by DJ Brittany Carrasco, dancing, an open mic and family activities. There will be 30+ vendors to browse, including two food trucks, several food tents and many local nonprofits/ educational organizations; join us for Drag Story Time with Angel Elektra , a music circle by Miss Patti, face painting by our resident artists, an open mic hosted by I.Den.t.T to share your talents, and of course, fierce fun with our hosts, Angel Elektra and Shay D'Pines !

This year we focus on trans visibility and counteracting the rising tide of hate, especially against trans youth. LGBTQ+ people, advocates and supporters continue to be harassed and defamed both nationally and locally, so once again we cannot back down or forget what Pride is really all about. Celebrating our community is part of that, but please join us at Gilead Church to hear our speakers and drive proudly through our community with your cars decorated. Our hosts will lead the way.

If you prefer to go directly to the park, vendors will be ready by 1:00pm. Speakers will gather on the lawn of Gilead Church; there is no paved access. Putnam County Veterans Memorial Park has paved access. There will be several bathrooms available and accessible parking.

Please bring blankets and chairs, and remember that the park unfortunately does not allow pets! If you have a service animal, please let a member of the staff know upon arrival so we're aware.

THERE IS NO RAIN DATE - the park has covered pavilions so we are going forward rain or shine.

Please contact us at putnamnypride@gmail.com with any questions.

HAPPY PRIDE AND SEE YOU SOON!!!
